Hanukkah was much more exciting this year for a couple of reasons. First, Sophia could understand more of what was going on and she could participate. Also, she has a fascination with lights so lighting the candles on the Menorah was a treat each night to see her face light up and watch the candles and say "oooooo".
Our first night we made a traditional feast of Latkes and Kugel. Latkes are a potato pancake that is fried in some oil and are very tasty! Kugel dish of egg noodles in a cheese mixture with a cinnamon, cornflake topping. I was skeptical when I first tried it, but I have to say it was great! We lit candles, said prayers, and Sophia opened her first gift.
The following nights we said prayers, lit the candles, and opened gifts each night. Here is a couple videos of the eighth night, enjoy!
