Gotcha!

We have not made a post since right around Sophia's one year birthday, I feel like a blog failure.  Now we are celebrating her Gotcha Day anniversary, and we are making the commitment to doing at least two entries a month...hopefully more!

Many things have changed since the last time we wrote here, I will do my best to give you a quick overview and I am sure to forget things I will catch them up in subsequent posts.

Shortly after her first birthday she mastered walking, and then quickly went to running and dancing.  Ah, yes, dancing-her favorite thing to do.  We enrolled her in a local dance class that she goes to every Monday and she absolutely loves it, she is one of the only kids that actually dances and she picks things up really quickly.  Sophia also likes jumping a lot when she is dancing which is apparently something that kids her age aren't supposed to be able to do!  There will be many posts to come concerning this, so stay tuned for the videos and proud parent moments.

Health wise has been mostly perfect.  She is the 99th percentile in height (34 inches tall), and is about 26 pounds.  Overall she is the size of an average 2 & 1/2 year old.  We had a bit of a scare a couple months ago when some of her bloodwork was misread and they thought she had leukemia.  We went to see a specialist and the moment she walked in said "HI", smiled and ran around, the Doc said "this kid is not sick".  To be safe they redid the bloodwork and confirmed she is perfectly healthy.

A development that I did not want to get to was the "NO" (said defiantly), temper tantrum, and talking back phase.  Affectionately referred to as the terrible twos, has come about 6 months early.  While it can be difficult at times, we have instituted "time outs" which she absolutely hates, but they are working!

Enough with the negative, we are celebrating her Gotcha Day today.  It is all about the journey and our love for this little angel.  We have put together a video chronicling the past year, and there is a special announcement at the end which will also become an important part of this blog in the coming year!

Enjoy!
