We are a diverse family to say the least, both racially and religiously.
Andrea is Jewish, and I am Catholic which makes for an interesting holiday time.
We have decided to celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. Hanukkah will be traditional, and Christmas will be celebrated, but the focus will be on giving, and not a huge pile of gifts. As she gets old enough to understand we will be doing charity work, whether it is working at a soup kitchen, or maybe helping to do a fundraiser for another family who is adopting, or just visiting some less fortunate then us.
This year though, it is just time to have some fun with her first time home!
Hanukkah was great. She loves the candles, although she keeps trying to grab them, but thankfully I was there to keep her hands reeled in! It was neat to see her watch her mom as Andrea said the prayers after lighting the candles. Herky freaked out every time Andrea spoke Hebrew, it was pretty funny! Each night she opened a present and mostly played with the bows and the paper.
We had a tree for the first time this year. It is white and decorated with silver and blue to incorporate Hanukkah
Christmas morning she came down to find lots of presents for her from her Grandma and Grandpa Domitrovich, and her Aunt and Uncle Lester. Again she opened them and found most of the entertainment in the paper and bows. When she got to her stocking it was filled with socks, she was not impressed. Andrea also put some Yogurt Bites in there and she was fascinated with the bags, it was so cute!
It was a great day, we cannot wait until she is older and can appreciate the holidays and participate more!
